Summary of
Activity:
The PJD has a personalized evaluation service that is useful to the photographer who wants to hone his or her skills. This service is especially help full if the maker would like to know just what constitutes an acceptable image in Photojournalism, or for previewing images before entering them in PSA-recognized exhibitions.

A reasonable number of slides or prints can be mailed to the evaluator, including postage for their return, and a blank tape if a recorded commentary is desired. Eight to ten unmounted 8 x 10 (inches) print images or a page of 20 slides would not be an unreasonable number.  Additionally, this service is available via e-mail (see below)

The evaluator provides a written or taped commentary regarding what was good and what could be improved. Topics covered include: exposure, depth of field, lighting, interest, composition, ways to increase impact, ideas for different techniques, how to better communicate a photographic message, and presentation.

This one-on-one service is designed to help PSA members create better photojournalism images. People who have used this service say that it has helped them “think” about their photography in a whole new light, and to notice potential problems before taking a shot.
