Summary of
Activity:
The Photo Story Competition provides an opportunity for PSA members to develop or explore one theme or subject in a deeper, more comprehensive manner by using a series of slides, digital images, or a layout of prints.

Photo Story makers develop different strategies based on the format selected.
•  Slide and digital stories present individual images one by one. The viewer sees the story unfold through the sequence of images and the accompanying narration.
•  The print presentation depends on the overall initial impact of the total presentation enhanced by layout, the size and prominence of key images, the juxtaposition of close-ups and long shots and of verticals and horizontals, the use of white space, and the overall composition.  A print story normally requires less narrative than a slide or electronic image story, or none at all.  Also what is presented in words need not necessarily be tied to an individual image as in a slide or electronic image presentation.

Awards will be given based on the number of entries in each format. An entrant earning an Award receives four acceptances and two title credits in Photojournalism. Someone earning an Honorable Mention will receive three acceptances and two title credits in Photojournalism. These acceptances and title credits are not applicable beyond the fifth Star in Photojournalism. PSA Who's Who credit is not earned with acceptances from the Photo Story Competition.
Conditions of
Entry:
Each slide or digital story may contain a minimum of five (5) and maximum of twenty (20) images, including any title and "The End" image. A typed script, not to exceed 500 words, must accompany each slide or digital story.

Each print may include a minimum of three (3) and maximum of eight (8) individual prints, mounted on no more than two (2) mounting boards 16 x 18 inches or smaller. A text, not to exceed 200 words, may be provided to enhance the pictorial story line.

Each entrant may enter no more than three (3) stories in each of the three (3) sections. No photo story may be entered that has won an award in a previous photo story competition. A photo story may not be entered more than twice in the same format.
Fees:
Entry fee is $4.00 for the first entry in each section. Each additional entry mailed in the same case or box is $2.50. Entrants must also include sufficient postage to cover the cost return mailing.
