I have an Olympus Point and Shoot Digital Z490 and obtain the technical
information from the Histogram in the Picasa Program I used to edit my images.
The only thing I did to this image was sharpen it.

Those look like tough light conditions; a bright sunny
background with a shady foreground. I would have liked to see more of their
faces, especially since their legs were cut off. 7. |

There is definitely a good story here, but the legs being cut
off and the overexposed background would keep this from being accepted.
Score 6. |

The cropping of the legs is distracting. Perhaps if the tops
of the trees are included the legs and feet of at least the figures on the
right and left should be included. Pretty colors, and pleasing image. 7 |

Nice PJ shot. It shows action and tells a story of early
America. I would zoom in closer to get more details and give the picture
more impact. The fife player on the right side can be cropped out and
concentrate on the three players that are close together. Score - 7 |

This is a good Human interest shot but unfortunately, you
cannot see much Human expression! The faces are looking down or away- not as
much interest as being able to see them. Unfortunately, the background is
very bright & overexposed making it very distracting. (8) |

Alan F. E. Thiese
- Biography
I was born in February 1940 and enjoyed being the oldest of six children on
an 80 acre Iowa Farm until I avoided the Military Draft in 1961 when I
joined the U. S. Navy. I served on an Aircraft Carrier, several Shore Duty
Stations and two Guided Missile Destroyers as well as one Destroyer. I
retired from the U. S. Navy on December 31, 1981 and worked as the office
manager at a Nursing Home in Macon, Georgia for about two years. I was then
hired to work as a production worker at Brown and Williamson Tobacco
Factory. I retired from that opportunity on September 1, 1999. I have
enjoyed my retirement ever since. At the time of my retirement I joined the
Middle Georgia Camera Club. I enjoy my hobby of Gardening and I also capture
flower shots. I started with a Digital Olympus Z-490 Point and Shoot. A week
ago I upgraded my equipment and obtained an Olympus SP 570-UZ. I am now on a
steep learning curve to learn all the options I have with this new Camera. I
currently use Picasa to edit images and am also on a learning curve learning
Elements Editing Software. I live in Macon, Georgia and enjoy the four
seasons here. In addition to gardening and photography I fill my time with a
part time job at the Georgia National Fair in Perry, Georgia each Fall. I
now serve as the Chairman of the Photography Contest at the Fair. I am also
a Standardized Patient at the Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon,
Georgia. I am one of many who act out various situations so that the Medical
School Students can learn. I am also a Volunteer reader to Elementary School
Children. I enjoy this opportunity to interact with Young People and read
them interesting books. Since I joined the Photographic Society of America
about five years ago I have become involved in three Study Groups. • PSA
Slide Study Group 1 • PSA Photojournalism Division Digital Study Group 1 •
PSA Color Projected Image Division (CPID) Study Group 21 These Groups allow
me to learn from peers who have much more experience in the art of
Photography. Recently my Bride of 36 years this October conducted a photo
shoot of me.
